Cheesy Jalapeño Grilled turkey burgers

Ingredients

  • 500 g (1lb) turkey mince / ground turkey
  • ½ cup fresh breadcrumbs (¼ cup dried breadcrumbs)
  • 1 egg yolk
  • ½ cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 jalapeno finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp chives finely chopped
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper

For the burgers

  • 4 burger buns
  • lettuce
  • 4 slices cheese
  • sliced tomato
  • sliced onion
  • mayonnaise

Instructions

  • Combine turkey, breadcrumbs, egg yolk, grated cheese, finely chopped jalapeño, chopped chives, garlic powder, oregano, salt and pepper.
  • Mix until just-combined. With damp hands, form the mixture into four burger patties. 
  • Cook the patties over medium-high heat in a grill pan or on an outdoor grill until golden brown on both sides and cooked through. 
  • Split and toast the buns then top with mayonnaise, lettuce, the grilled turkey patties, cheese, tomato and onion.
  • Serve immediately.
